about

I discovered this track recently while doing some mundane digital housekeeping: an early rough-idea version of what would become "Eventually I'll Dry Up And You'll Have To Throw Me Away", from the Born At Night record I released a little while ago.

This song, the longest on that album (in both time and title), went through the most changes before it arrived at its album-state... so much so that its working title was "Infinishable Song" (sic). The basic repeated figure at this early stage is the same as the record, but the chords surrounding it are totally different. I rarely consider a piece of art to be "finished" - I conceive & consider them all as perpetual works in progress. As time goes on, they usually transform somehow... and this one exemplifies that the most.

This version features no other accompanying instruments - everything you hear is a guitar, which was an unplugged 1966 Gretsch 6192 Country Club with a condenser mic in front of it. Hope you like.
